Today we measured how long we were in centimeters. We used a meter stick which is 100 centimeters. it is not the same a yard stick. Since were longer than a meter stick, we had to do the first measure from our feet, make a small mark, move the meter stick to line up with the mark and then add the two numbers together (which was not hard, because the first number was 100). We know if we measure in centimeters, we mark our unit of measure as cm.
These are all of the kinds of number problems that we encountered in Unit 4. One of the hardest ones is the "String" problem because we want to subtract because someone cut the string! It's easier to remember what is being asked when we draw our part-part whole box. We also have to remember what the label needs to be, and that is tricky in the moving problems. We enjoy writing our own word problems, too!
