This week we got together with our Kindergarten buddies to make holiday crafts for the soldiers! We also organized a food and toiletry drive to send to our deployed service men and women. We collected 6 boxes of goodies!!!! We’ve moved onto our Geometry unit. The kids are enjoying learning about the different shapes. We have even learned some fun songs to help us remember the different shapes!
We had a great cultural arts assembly today. Thank you to our wonderful PTO for bringing this performance to us. The kids enjoyed the interactive cardboard puppet show in which we heard four different stories. It was so much fun!
We had a wonderful assembly today to honor all of the veterans both near and far. There were wonderful readings, beautiful songs and an introduction of all the veterans that could join us. Some of our friends had a special veteran visit them! (I apologize that some did not get a photo.) We also had a special visit from Mrs. Connie Bombaci. She is a former RSD 17 colleague and a special friend of mine. She is the person who organizes the shipments of the crafts and cards that we create with our buddy class. She sends them to active soldiers overseas. She came with her very special service dog, Judea. Judea is deaf and she has taught him sign language. The kids enjoyed getting to meet both of them.
We celebrated Lia’s birthday in class today with some delicious home baked chocolate chip cookies!!!!
