Today we had our culminating project for PLTW. We have been learning about “The Changing Earth” and about erosion. Today the students had to design a land model in hopes of preventing a landslide. These little “engineers” had some amazing ideas. All of their models had some strengths in them. I’m including before, during and after pictures.
We has a fun day celebrating Valentine’s Day today. We played some games, ate some treats and exchanged cards!
Today was the 100th day of school! We had some friends dress like they were 100 years old. There were some very creative ideas!
We celebrated 1/2 way day yesterday! We are half way done with second grade! As a treat, we got to enjoy a half package of Smarties. The kids had to figure out how to equally divide the package of treats!
Don’t forget to wear mismatched shoes tomorrow, January 18!!!!! Our own classmates organized this fundraiser to raise money for the Haddam Fuel Bank! Let’s support a great cause!
Today we welcomed Ginga Brasileira to our school. This was a great performance by Brazilian singers and dancers. It was entertaining and they taught us a lot. Goodbye to 2018, hello to 2019!!!! I can’t wait to see all of my friends on Wednesday, January 2, 2019!
Thank you to Ms. D. for teaching the kids the signs to this poem. Enjoy! |
