Reading: We had a very busy reading week! We learned that as our books get longer, they also get harder. We talked about the various ways that we can solve "tricky words". Not only did we talk about new strategies, but we talked about how we can use more than one strategy at a time!
Writing: We continued our study of small moment or "seed" stories. We are learning to "zoom in" on one smaller part of a story and expand upon it! We also started to talk about revising our work!
Math: We started leaning about graphs and interpreting data. We graphed the results of our September fact fluency and set individual goals for ourselves for the next month.
Social Studies: We began learning more about maps! We talked about what maps were, what they are used for and the things that we can see on a map. Ask your child the saying that they learned in order to remember the order of the directions on a compass rose!
Computers: We started to explore Word Documents! We learned how to open a document, type some things (including how to make capital letters and periods), we also learned how to change the font, size and color of the text.
Picture day: This was held on Friday! All the kids were dressed so nicely! I can't wait to see how our pictures came out!
This is just a quick summary of some of the things your child learned this week! Have a super weekend!
